"Augie" Leigh Maurelli joined the Georgetown athletic department staff in January of 2001 as a strength and conditioning coach for the football program. In the fall of 2003, Maurelli assumed the title of strength and conditioning coach for all Hoya student-athletes and this will be his sixth season working with the football program.

Maurelli has created programs specific to Georgetown that monitor, motivate and coach the development of all Georgetown student-athletes with regards to strength, speed and conditioning.

Prior to his arrival at the Hilltop, Maurelli played four years of varsity football at Johns Hopkins University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997, and subsequently served as an assistant football coach for three years. In 1996, he set several university records, including a combined lift of 1,380 lbs. in the bench press, clean, and squat.

In 2002, Maurelli received a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. In addition, he has held professional positions at Johnson Controls in Baltimore from 1997-00, Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York during the summer of 2001, and his current position as a Research Associate at MCG Capital in Washington, D.C.

Maurelli is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Maurelli is also a certified USO(USOC Competitor and Coach, registered USWF lifter, and has been featured in Ironman magazine.
